Austin TX and the Porsche 911. Why is that combo popular?

Was here for a work layover and once I got downtown that's all I saw anywhere was 911 after 911 after 911....convertible, turbo, vanilla...there was a regular car and then if something special was found....it was a 911. It reminded me of my trip to the island of Kauai. I thought it would be cool to have a convertible Mustang rental until I saw that every freakin' person had one...so I'm glad I rented that Jeep on the island. I did not see any Cayman/ Cayenne in Austin, only the 911's. So what is it with Austin and that car?

Can't answer that, but I can say a Jeep on Kauai is the way to go! I did the same thing. Get a 'vert on some island that you can't really explore on.

I'd chalk it up to an anomaly. But Austin does have some great roads all around it.

Additionally, Dallas, Austin, and Houston happen to be huge, outweighted markets for non-regular vehicles, to speak broadly, although Austin ranks steadily behind the other two.

Yea, that is rare. There are expensive cars in ATX, but the vast majority are average or below. There are a few interesting roads but again, most are either too poor or dangerous to allow for spirited driving.
